You must keep it in mind that the Nafs becomes healthier and flourishes with studying more knowledge and offering Zahiri servitude and worship. It becomes fatter on winning fame and connections of public to him and remains joyful and pleased in these circumstances and tries to escape Tassawar and fears the essence of Ism e Allah Zaat, Zikr, Fikr, Immersion and absorption, Marifat of �Il Allah� and from Maraqiba and does not appreciate attention towards the Hazoori of Majlis of Hazoor (SA ALLAH HU ALIHA WA ALLIHI WASILIM) and inclines not towards the way of Baatin. The way of Baatin proves for him like a fatal poison and his Nafs does not assume it. The reason is that: due to the performance of Tassawar of the Ism e Allah Zaat and contemplation of Marifat of God and the Hazoori of Majlis of Hazoor (SA ALLAH HU ALIHA WA ALLIHI WASILIM), the Noor of Tauhid and the secrets of �with Allah� emerge in the body and soul through which Marifat of the Lord, office of importing Ilhaam from God and absolute Hazoor of the �with God� is gained.

 

You note that the Nafs becomes subdued i.e. mannerism, modesty, shyness, purification of the Baatin, sincerity and devotion to the Majlis of Muhamamd (SA ALLAH HU ALIHA WA ALLIHI WASILIM) brings Nafs in control and Muhaasba (accountability). The justice and equity is a product of struggle and investigation.

 

It should be clear that the Nafs of the Arifs remains in thanking and praising of the Lord at the time of eating to their full and at the time of hunger, it practices perseverance and patience and remains careless and self sufficient with Zikr and Fikr and finds total Jamiyat through the visions of the Noor of Lord and immersion in the Marifat of Lord in the Majlis of Muhammad (SA ALLAH HU ALIHA WA ALLIHI WASILIM) same as the fish finds repose and relief water and dies at land. And at the times of offering generosity, their Nafs stays determined, sane and courageous. It shows affection on the public, remains wise and vigilant at the time of Shahwat (need for sex) and desire. It keeps in focus the position of Fana Fi Allah and position of Hazoor. That is why it shuns Shahwat, Zanaa (adultery) and lust due to its significance before Allah and its being modest. And just because of the fear from Allah and Allah it shuns from desire and lust.
